"SDCBC Discussion Forum Launched "

We have established a brand new way for ort members to communicate. This new tool, a discussion forum, will help alleviate the problem of overstuffed "IN" boxes in our email systems. http://forum.bikesandiego.org is the link to the home page for the new forum. Go there - Register - and Enjoy. Try it, we think you'll like it. The system is designed to work through your favorite web browser, but it is possible to have the Forum send a short email message to announce that a new item has been posted on a topic of interest. When you view a forum or a topic as a registered member on the new system, you will see an item at the bottom of the page on the left side that says "Subscribe forum" or "Subscribe topic" .  If you click on this item, you will initiate a subscription that will result in a notification to your registered email address when a new posting exists.

The First Ever "Pedal to the Air Show" --In partnership with the Marines, SDCBC organized and staffed the first ever, bicycle-friendly alternative for the Air Show at USMCAS Miramar October 3rd through 5th.

This event was a rousing success! Here is what the Project Manager, Dave White had to say:

For numbers sake (and more), Pedal to the Air Show, the inaugural event encouraging visitors to ride their bikes, and featuring the SD County Bicycle Coalition's Bicycle Parking Pavilion (BPP), was a popular success.  Essential aspects of the site, logistic preparations, signage, and operations performed by the MCAS Miramar Marines and the SDCBC attracted the following number of bicycles of various styles.
110 Friday, 420 Saturday, 440 Sunday -- 970 total
Individual and group volunteer staff support was outstanding, most notably by the Westview HS JROTC cadets. Thanks to Robert, Jim, and Kathy for charge responsibilities at the BPP, and Jim for the Ride & Learn group ride. Many thanks also to San Diego Padres ballpark management for lending the Padres BPP bike racks for the weekend.

Dave White's gallery of photos from Pedal to the Air Show are here.

Informal feedback from users was overwhelmingly appreciative and congratulatory.

Bike the Bay

Bike The Bay 2008 happened and it was a resounding success. Click the Bike The Bay Logo above to vist the web site and check out the ride day photos. Thank You must go out to all the riders who showed up and had a great time. Special thanks are due to all the volunteers. Without them there could not have been a Bike The Bay. Your support will help the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition with advocacy efforts and ensure that this is the first of many Bike the Bay Rides.

Bike The Bay 2009 is in the planning stages. We've been asked to " Save The Date" August 30th, 2009 . More details here as they are available.
